Birthday flower arranging tips

What you need:

  • Fresh flowers in various colours (carnations, roses and chrysanthemums are great)

  • One cube-shaped box

  • Ribbon and wrapping paper

  • Colourful tissue paper

  • Floral foam and a plastic tray

  • Flower food

  • Wood glue

  • Sharp scissors

  • Bright balloon (optional)

Directions:

  • When choosing the blooms for your birthday flower arrangement, you will need to select colours that are bright and will send a message of joy. You can combine several different colours with the help of a colour wheel to make sure that they all look good together.

  • You will need to use enough flowers and foliage to fill the cube-shaped box that you have selected.

  • Dissolve your flower food in some fresh water before soaking the floral foam.

  • Decorate the exterior of the box with some wrapping paper and ribbon.

  • You can also add a few layers of tissue paper inside the box.

  • Place the floral foam on the plastic tray inside the box.

  • Make sure that you keep your stems in fresh water while you prepare the box and only remove one stem at a time to trim and place in the foam.

  • You should place foliage around the lower rim of the arrangement before adding some blooms. Continue adding your larger flowers until you have filled the foam.

  • Next, you will need to address any gaps in between. You can fill them up with some foliage and filler flowers.

  • Once you are satisfied with the result, you can secure a bright helium balloon to the arrangement if you like. Flower picks are great too if you prefer.
