How to create the perfect green and white centrepiece

If you are planning on hosting any kind of event, you need the right centrepiece. While some might say that colours are a must when it comes to flower arrangements, there are exceptions. Green is the colour we usually associate with foliage but, in this case, it is the main attraction of the bouquet. Apart from the naturally appealing design, this bouquet is very easy to make using just a few carefully selected supplies.

What you need:

  • Green Ball Dianthus
  • Green Mini Hydrangea
  • Green Hypericum Berries
  • Ivory White Hydrangeas
  • Apidistra Leaves
  • Short, square vase

Method

  • Begin by preparing your vase. You will need to hold one of the Apidistra leaves at the stem end and apply pressure up and down the spine. This make the leaf more pliable and easier to work with.
  • Trim the leaf stem and roll up the lead so that it is slightly smaller than the vase.
  • Place the leaf inside the vase and release. It will unravel to fit the vase perfectly.
  • Add water and floral food to your vase
  • Remove any excess leaves from your flower stems.
  • Trim the flower stems as you arrange them and make sure that you cut at an angle.
  • Start with the white hydrangeas. Line the outer rim of the arrangement with white to help the green stand out. It also creates a nice break between the green vase and green flowers.
  • Add the green ball dianthus and hypericum berries. Alternate between the two. You will want more dianthus than berries in the arrangement. So, for example, you can place two dianthus stems followed by one berry stem.
  • Fill the arrangement following this pattern and add your green mini hydrangea stem to one of the sides as lighter accent to break up all that dark green.
  • Feel free to add some limes around the base of the arrangement too.

Once you are done, you can place this arrangement on the table and add something extra to each place setting. One example is to place a single green flower on each plate. If you do so make sure that your flowers are thoroughly washed.
