Tips for creating the perfect green flower arrangement

When you think about fresh flowers, it’s easy to imagine colours like red, pink, yellow, and orange. However, flowers are also available in various shades of green which can make for a wonderfully soothing bouquet. If you want to make a green bouquet, here’s what you need to know.

The first thing you need to do is select your flowers and foliage. Even though you are using green flowers, you can still add some lush, dark green foliage for added contrast. Some options include False Queen Anne’s Lace, Bells of Ireland, Emerald Roses, Green Cymbidium Orchids, Pale green Tulips, and green Viburnum.

Once you have selected a variety of flowers and greenery, it’s time to select your vase and prepare it by adding fresh water with some flower food. If you like, you can also use a floral frog when making your design. Floral frogs are secured to the base of the vase using clay and they serve the purpose of holding all the stems in place.

Start by arranging your larger focal flowers before surrounding them with smaller flowers. Add your foliage around these flowers and in between to fill up any gaps. As you arrange each stem, make sure that you trim them accordingly and that the base of each stem is cut at an angle to maximize absorption.

Make sure that you change the water every couple of days, remove any wilting stems, and keep your vase arrangement out of the sun and wind. The better you care for your flowers, the longer they will last. If you change the vase water, don’t forget to add more flower food to the water. Flower food helps keep bacteria at bay while providing the flowers with some much needed nutrients.

Display your green bouquet in a place where you spend much of your time. The calming and soothing effect of this arrangement will offer many wonderful benefits.
