Potted plants – where to display them

Potted plants can have a wonderful effect on your interior décor and they can even help improve your mood. Plants are known for providing fresh air and different plants help absorb different toxins too. Of course, if you want your plants to thrive, it’s important to find the perfect spot for each one.

Outdoors

Some potted plants can spend all or at least most of their time outdoors. You will need to select a hardy plant if you plan on leaving it outside over the winter. If not, you will need to move it indoors as soon as the colder months approach. You can improve the entrance to your home by placing plants on either side of the entrance.

Mantelpiece

During summer, you will not be lighting any fires for this reason, you can decorate the front of your fireplace or your mantelpiece with potted plants. Of course, as soon as you wish to start lighting fires, you will need to move your plants pretty far from the fireplace or they will end up wilting from the heat.

Smaller spaces

If you have a small home or smaller areas in your home, you can still add potted plants without making the room feel cluttered. You can display hanging plants or attach planters to the walls in the room. This will ensure that they do not get in the way and this is also great if you have pets or young children.

Windowsills

When displaying plants in windowsills, it is important that you understand the needs of the plant. If, for example, they do not like direct sunlight, you should place them in a window that does not receive direct sunlight. Similarly, you do not want to allow the leaves of the plant to touch the window. While it might not be too much of an issue in the summer, it can prove problematic during the winter. The cold from outside will make your windows cold and this can damage those delicate leaves.

Bathroom

Your bathroom is the most humid part of your home. You should choose plants that enjoy high levels of humidity, like orchids, for this area.

As you can see, potted plants can be displayed in so many different ways in order to suit their needs and the environment you have to offer. Before buying a plant, consider where you would like to display it. In addition, you need to consider just how much it will grow and if it will outgrow its initial home.
