How to make garden markers

Keeping track of all of your plants is important since it helps you better care and protect different plants from different pests. You could buy garden markers or you could make your own and make them that much more personal!

You will need:

  • A printer
  • A photo of your family members holding a blank white page
  • Wooden spoons
  • Wood glue
  • Paint brush
  • Water in a bowl
  • A towel
  • Marker

Method:

  • Start by printing out the photos and make sure that they are the right size to fit on the back of the wooden spoons. They should be printed on regular paper.
  • Cut the photos out and apply the wood glue to the font part of the image before sticking it onto the spoon.
  • Now paint some more glue over the paper stuck to the spoon and allow to dry overnight.
  • Use a damp towel to gently rub off the top layer of the paper to reveal the image stuck directly on the spoons!
  • Let your spoons dry for about 10 minutes before writing the name of each plant on each spoon. This is why the subject of the photo should hold a white piece of paper – so that you have space to write these names.
  • Paint over the whole image with some glue to seal it and protect them from the elements.
  • Once dry, they are ready for use!
