Leigh Flower Show rescheduled for 8th September 2012

The Leigh Flower Show has been rescheduled for the 8th of September, following the original event being postponed after huge rainfall flooded the field where the show was due to go ahead.

Thousands of people are expected to come to Leigh for the show, which includes activities, classes, plus the all important competitions. There will also be a number of stalls, including cakes, pottery and, of course, flowers.

The competitions include floral arrangements, home produce and fruit and vegetables, and many other categories. The show is held every year by the Leigh and District Cottage Garden Society, who were established over 120 years ago, in 1891.

The classes will include fruit, vegetables, pot plants, and flowers, as well as cream tea and refreshments being provided throughout the day.

Last year there was a vintage car show for the motoring enthusiasts, as well as a scarecrow contest and over 30 stalls. Members of the society can visit the show for free.

This year is the 105th Leigh Flower Show, and we hope the weather stays fine for this amazing celebration of all things floral.
