Festive flower design – Santa’s Hat

Fresh flower arrangements and even artificial flower bouquets are becoming more and more creative. Instead of arranging flowers in that conventional, old-fashioned way, more and more people are choosing to create incredible designs. This holiday season, we can put many of these creative ideas to good use and create interesting table decorations and floral designs for anywhere in the home. Making your own festive flower design is one of the easiest projects ever and will take you no more than a few minutes to complete. This design can be used on your dining room table, buffet table, or even on a coffee table in your living room or foyer.

What you need:

  • Red and white carnations
  • Cone shaped floral foam
  • Plastic base for the floral foam
  • A fine variety of foliage (such as fir)

Directions:

  • If you are using fresh blooms for this festive flower arrangement, you should start by soaking the floral foam in water to hydrate it.
  • Next, place the floral foam on the plastic tray to protect your table from getting wet or discoloured from the green foam.
  • Trim the foliage for your arrangement and arrange them around the very bottom of the cone so that you can conceal the tray.
  • Next, you can trim and arrange a row of white carnations around the base just above the row of foliage.
  • Follow this with red carnations in rows one above the next until you almost reach the top. The closer you get to the top, the shorter the stems will need to be since the cone will become smaller.
  • Finally, add a single white carnation on the very tip of the cone to finish it off.

This design is so simple, yet effective, you can even ask your kids to help! If you use it as a centrepiece, you can add additional festive decorations around the hat, like miniature gifts. The best part about this type of festive flower design is that you can really get creative!
