Crepe paper rose design

Flower arrangements come in all shapes, sizes and colours. One of the main choices you will need to make is whether you want fresh or artificial flowers. If you want blooms that will last longer than a few weeks, you should make your own crepe paper rose bouquet.

What you need:

• Streamers
• Newspaper for the stems or you can use wire if you prefer
• Thread
• Glue
• Scissors

Instructions:

• Before you begin with your crepe paper rose bouquet, you will need to set out all of your materials so that you have everything on hand.
• You can then begin rolling up a strip of newspaper into a long stick. Glue the loose end down so that it stays in place.
• Wrap green crepe paper around the top of the newspaper stem and use thread to secure the paper in place.
• Take a piece of streamer and cut to a length of 50 inches.
• Trim each end so that they are straight and then trim one of the ends at a 45 degree angle.
• Starting from the straight end, wrap the streamer around the stem so that the streamer is only slightly higher than the green centre.
• Hold the streamer in place and wrap it around until you create about five layers around the stem. They should be tightly wrapped.
• You should also fold the upper part of the paper since it will wrap tightly around the stem but fan out towards the top.
• Fluff the petals gently so that they do not become bunched together.
• Once you get the the end, fold the pointed end so that it points down the stem and slide it into the base of the flower to secure.
• Secure the flower even more by wrapping some thread around the base.
• Starting from the base of the flower, glue some green crepe paper in place and wrap it around the entire stem. Once you have covered the entire stem, glue the loose end in place,
• Fluff out your rose a little more before placing in a vase.
• Make as many as you like in various colours and enjoy!
