Christmas Rose plant history and tradition
The holidays are a very busy time of year for so many of us. It is also a magical time for the young and young at heart. There are so many things to look forward to such as delicious food, festive decorations and, of course, amazing gifts. Fresh flowers and plants are a popular gift for this occasion. One such plant is the Christmas Rose. Below you will find out more about the legends associated with this beautiful plant.
Three Wise Men
You may already know the story of the Three Wise Men. They travelled in the cold for miles following a star to welcome baby Jesus and present him with some very special gifts. These men were not the only ones who made a long trip on this evening and each came with their very own gift.
The poor shepherdess
Another legend, possibly not as well-known, is about a poor shepherdess, Maleon. While the Wise Men were making their way to baby Jesus, they noticed Madelon. She was poor and could not afford such lavish gifts as gold, frankincense or myrrh. She searched desperately for flowers that she could present to the newborn baby boy. However, she could not find any in such cold conditions. She followed the Wise Men even though she didn’t have a gift to preset. On the way, with a heavy heart, she began to cry. An angel appeared before her in this moment of sadness and took pity on her. The angel brushed away some snow from near the feet of the shepherdess. As Maledon looked down, she saw the most beautiful blooms. She picked them right away to present to baby Jesus. Today, these flowers are known as the Christmas Rose.
Today, the Christmas Rose is a popular addition to many homes around the world. This plant makes a thoughtful and meaningful gift for friends and loved ones too. Not only will they enjoy how the plant brightens up their home over the holidays, but long thereafter too.
