Appeal for Guernsey Battle of Flowers Entries

The Battle of Flowers is an annual event that takes place on the island of Guernsey. However in recent years people have been put off attending the show because of bad weather and with this in mind the show has suffered financially.

The organisers of this year’s Battle of the Flowers have urged for more competitors to take part and to take part using real flowers instead of the ever increasing popular paper flowers. Competitors are more inclined to use paper flowers because they will not die and will stay bright and colourful through the weekend of the show and will not be damaged if bad weather strikes. Competitors using real flowers should take note that the cut-off date for orders is the end of June and flowers start arriving at the show one week before it begins.

Ms Emma Guilbert, Battle of the Flowers co-ordinator, has revealed that grants will be made available before the competition. All competitors are allowed a grant no matter how big their display is or by what means they need to bring the flowers to the competition.

The Battle of the Flowers is a great day out for the family and tickets are still available. The annual event take places this year at Saumarez Park and will be up and running on the dates of the 22nd and 23rd of August.
