Summer flowers for a baby girl

When you first bring your baby home, you want to do everything you can to make your home a friendly and loving environment. She wants mum and baby to feel good coming home, and especially with all of mum’s hormones out of balance, she wants to make her smile even though she’s probably exhausted. Mum and baby would probably have stayed in the hospital for at least a couple of days. You may have already sent a flower delivery to the hospital or maybe you just sent a care basket and are saving those summer flowers for the house. When you’re decorating your home to receive a baby girl, pink is definitely a must. It’ll probably outgrow the colour later, so make the most of these pink moments while you can!

The right shade

During the summer there are a plethora of flowers to choose from. While many summer flowers come in pink, not all of them come in a light pastel pink. Some of them come in brighter pinks like fuchsia and these aren’t really what you should be looking for. The only time you might include fuchsia is if you’re making a mixed bouquet with several flowers, all in different shades of pink. The general rule therefore is that the darker shades are placed in the centre of the bouquet and the lighter ones around the edges. The end result is the effect that the colour is strongest in the centre and fades towards the edges.

Popular peonies

In the line of pastel pink summer flowers, we have the ever-popular peony. They bloom during the spring, but also during the first weeks of summer, so if mum brings the little princess home, you’re in luck! If you’re not sure when the baby will be due, it’s always good to have a backup plan when it comes to flowers.

Stargazer lilies

Stargazer lilies are stunning on their own or as the centrepiece of an arrangement. Their detailed petals set them apart from other summer flowers with simpler petals. They are available in the summer and their pink petals are always a hit.

Depending on mum’s personal preferences, there are always some good old favourites that your florist should always have on hand. These include roses, carnations and chrysanthemums. All available in various shades of pink. They can be sent alone or mixed. Remember that just because you’re sending a pink bouquet doesn’t mean you can’t include some white mass or filler flowers. In fact, many times this helps bring out the colour of the pink summer flowers and really makes them pop.
