Rose and lily bouquet design

Two colours that always look amazing together are red and white. The same can be said for two types of flowers – roses and lilies! They compliment one another and help create a luxurious and abundant floral display suitable for all occasions. If you are new to flower arranging, you will find this rose and lily design really easy to make yourself.

What you need:

  • 12 red roses

  • 6 white mini calla lilies

  • 3 sprigs of camellia leaf

  • silk or satin ribbon of your choice with 2 decorative pins

  • 2 or more rubber bands

Directions:

  • The first thing you need to do is carefully select each rose and lily along with your foliage. Make sure that the flowers are in partial-bud form so that they will enjoy a longer life in the vase.
  • Next, you will need to take one of your lilies in hand as this will be the centre of the bouquet.

  • Add four red roses around your central lily so that it appears as though they form a square around it.

  • Around the roses, add the remaining 5 lilies and ensure that they are all equally spaced apart.

  • You can now add another row of roses around the lilies.

  • Finally, add your camellia leaves to wrap it all up and to give your bouquet a beautiful green base.

  • Secure all of your stems together with a rubber band or two.

  • Use a sharp cutting tool to trim all of the stems to the same length but take care not to cut them too short.

  • Finally, conceal the rubber bands with some decorative ribbon and secure the ribbon in place using pins. You can wrap the stems up with the ribbon so that each layer overlaps slightly. Pin the first piece in place as soon as you wrap it around once. Then, when you get to the bottom, use another pin to secure that end in place too and you have a gorgeous rose and lily bouquet!

If you are planning on displaying your rose and lily bouquet right away, you can skip the stem wrapping step and place them in a vase with fresh water instead. Make sure that the vase is properly cleaned and add some flower food to the vase water to ensure that your arrangement lasts as long as possible.
