Romantic card design you can make yourself

Valentine’s Day is all about love and romance. Some of the most popular gifts for this occasion include flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals and champagne. Of course, most of these gifts will eventually be consumed or perish. If you want to present your partner or spouse with a gift that will stand the test of time, you might like to make your very own romantic card. Here’s how you can create a unique and memorable design.

Romantic card supplies

  • One piece of cardboard or firm paper

  • Pressed, silk or other flat flowers of your choice

  • Liquid glue

  • One small bowl that you can dispose of once done

  • A small brush or toothpick

  • Accessories like glitter or confetti hearts

  • A sharp pair of scissors

Directions:

  • To begin creating your romantic card, you will need to plan the design.

  • Select flowers that are as flat as possible. If you plan on using pressed flowers, you will need to make sure that you press them at least a couple of weeks ahead of time. Paper or fabric flowers can be used if you don’t have the time to press your own petals.

  • Remember, you can use a combination of blooms and you do not need to stick to one type of flower or even one colour. Just make sure that the cardboard you choose is a colour that will either be significantly darker or lighter than the blooms.

  • You can now plan the size of your card based on the size and number of blooms you wish to include.

  • Use your scissors to cut the card to the appropriate size before folding in half.

  • Now you can add your flowers to the front of the card and secure them in place with glue.

  • You can place some wax paper and a book on top of the design to keep everything in place if you like.

  • You can also create several layers of flowers if you would like some to overlap others.

  • If you like, now is the time to add accessories like glitter or romantic-themed confetti. You can apply some glue using a small brush and drizzle the glitter over it. Dust off the excess once you are finished.

  • Once you are done and your blooms and accessories are glued in place, it’s time to write a special and sincere message inside.

Now that your romantic card is ready, all you need to do is tuck it away somewhere safe as you wait for Valentine’s Day to arrive. You can prepare the rest of your gifts and present everything together in the morning as they open their eyes. If you like, you can also plan a romantic dinner at home or take them out to their favourite restaurant.
