Pumpkin vase DIY design

When creating your own autumn flower arrangement, one of the best vases is the one made from a pumpkin. Pumpkins are in season because they are popular this time of year and because of their color. Pumpkin orange is the exact color that is sure to make any autumn bouquet pop. The best part is that you can even make a pumpkin vase yourself if you like.

Preparing the pumpkin

The first thing you need to do is cut off the top of the pumpkin. Remove the top to get in the middle. Remove the seeds with a spoon and keep them aside. Continue digging out the pumpkin using a spoon or knife if necessary. Leave enough pumpkin skin to ensure that the sides of your pumpkin vase are sturdy and won’t fall off or break.

Nothing goes to waste

You may notice that the pumpkin juice starts to flow when you peel your pumpkin. Use a paper towel to absorb excess water. While your goal is to create a pumpkin vase, remember to set aside everything you scrape out. You can use the pumpkin to make some soup or a pie. The seeds can be roasted too.

Hold the water

Once your pumpkin is ready, it’s time to put the bag inside. You can use plastic or glass as long as the bag does not leak. If necessary, you can cut the pumpkin seeds off the top of your cut and use these pieces to fill in the holes. This will help keep your bag from moving or falling.

You can choose between using floral foam, floral frog, or just arranging your flowers in a container. Be sure to add water and flower food to the container before you start arranging your flowers. You will need to cut each stem to fit well in the vase and in the right direction. Cover the hole you dug in the pumpkin vase with flowers and leaves. It should look like a bouquet sprouting from the pumpkin itself. Display it in your living room, kitchen or anywhere you like. Feel free to put a candle in a tall glass vase next to this bouquet to make sure it will look good even at night. If you’re afraid of fire hazards, you can hide LED lights in the middle or around the bouquet instead.
