Poinsettia flower ball design
If you’re already tired of the same old bouquets, then a flower ball is for you! Your florist should already have more than a handful made, so they can probably have one ready for you in no time. That said, because it’s so simple to make, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t make it yourself. Especially if you’re the type of person who loves to be creative. You can use festive flower balls to brighten up any occasion, so before you start making one, simply decide when and where to use it. For example, a festive floral ball for a birthday party will look very different than one designed with Christmas in mind.
You will need:
-
A floral foam ball (20cm diameter is ideal)
-
Poinsettia stems
-
A green plastic holder that will fit the base of the arrangement
-
A pair of scissors or sharp knife
-
Festive foliage
-
Festive accessories (optional)
Steps to follow:
-
Before you begin creating your poinsettia flower ball, you will need to prepare the floral foam. Slice off a slice to create a flat base.
-
Allow the floral foam to soak up fresh water if you plan on using fresh plant material.
-
Set the foam ball on the plastic tray.
-
Add foliage around the base of the arrangement to hide the plastic tray.
-
Next, add rows of poinsettia stems until the entire ball is covered.
-
You can add some small stems of foliage in between to help the red poinsettias stand out.
-
If you like, you can now add some accessories to emphasize the festive theme.
-
Place your floral ball on display as a centrepiece. If you have a long table, you can create several balls in various sizes to create a tablescape design.
When it comes to a poinsettia flower ball design, you can also use other flowers as well. Carnations and roses, for instance, can be used in between to create a contrast of colour and texture. White flowers in between your red poinsettias will brighten up the display.
