Plants versus flowers – what should you give?

When you browse around for flowers online, you are bound to come across a number of potted plants too. Online florists have become that much more diverse in terms of their product range which is great news for the consumer. Of course, many people wonder when they should send flowers and when it’s better to send a potted plant.

There are no rules set in stone in this regard but there are some guidelines that can help you make the best choice. The first thing you need to do is consider the lifestyle of the recipient. How busy are they? How much time do they spend at home? Where will they be displaying their plant or flowers? If they are extremely busy and they hardly spend time at home, then they might be inclined to display flowers or a plant at their place of work. For those who are extremely busy at work, fresh flowers might be the better option because they will not require as much care and attention as a potted plant.

If the intended recipient already has a thriving collection of plants then you might want to add to this collection by sending them a gorgeous orchid or another plant that will surely impress any plant lover. That said, if they have so many plants that they hardly have any space for another pot, then fresh flowers would be best.

A bouquet of fresh flowers is also better if you’re not all that familiar with the recipient or their gardening skills. Not everyone has a way with plants and not everyone has the right home environment for plants to thrive. So, if you are ever in doubt, you can never go wrong with a fresh flower delivery!
Remember, you can always add a little something extra by having your florist include a box of chocolates, bottle of bubbly, or even a balloon to make the gift that much more special and memorable!
