Paper flowers with a sweet perfume

Many people love fresh flowers not only because of their beauty, but also because of their sweet scent. When you think about paper flowers, you might not think of them as having a lovely smell. Of course, like many things, there is always a way for you to get the best of both worlds: long-lasting artificial blooms that smell great! Here are some easy steps to follow:

What you need to make paper flowers:

  • Crepe paper in colours of your choice
  • Floral tape
  • Floral wire
  • Pliers
  • Cotton balls
  • Essential oils of your choice
  • Scissors

Directions:

  • Before you start creating your paper flowers, you should prepare the floral wire. Cut them to the appropriate length using your pliers.
  • Next, cut a piece of crepe paper into a square shape.
  • Place a cotton ball in the middle of the square of paper to make sure that there is about an inch of paper around all sides. This is only to size the paper up. You can remove it from the paper after this.
  • Add some essential oil to the cotton ball but be careful not to saturate it or it can ruin the crepe paper.
  • Secure the cotton ball to the floral wire and then place the square of crepe paper on top. Fold over the edges and use floral tape to secure them in place so that the cotton ball is completely concealed.
  • Cut some larger (9-inch) squares of crepe paper. You can use some decorative scissors to create a fringed edge on one side of each square.
  • Place the fringed edge on the floral wire (the base of the flower) and wrap it around the wire while scrunching the paper gently.
  • Repeat this step with another piece of paper of another colour.
  • Wrap the floral tape around and down the stem.
  • Once all of your flowers are ready, you can place them in a holder or vase and enjoy!

Remember, when choosing the scent or scents for your paper flowers, you might want to select a natural flower fragrance like rose or lavender. Of course, if you feel the need for an energy boost, you could opt for a citrus blend. Just be sure not to combine scents that may not necessarily work together – like rose and citrus. Some oils work great together while others not so much. A quick search online will help you choose the oils that are right for you.
