Flower and candle arrangement design

Flowers and candles look great together and, when combined, make the perfect centrepiece for any occasion. Best of all, these types of flower and candle arrangement designs are really easy to make and you will only need a few basic elements to create the perfect floral design.

You will need:

  • Flowers and foliage of your choice
  • Two candles
  • Two candle holders/supports
  • Floral foam
  • Waterproof dish (to hold the floral foam)
  • Floral tape (transparent)

Steps to follow:

  • To begin, you will need to ensure that the floral foam you are using is properly hydrated. So, soak in water until this is done.
  • Trim the floral foam to size so that it fills up the round dish. You can always add filler pieces where there are gaps.
  • Secure the foam in place using floral tape.
  • Place two candle holders in the middle of the arrangement with some space between the two.
  • Next, arrange your foliage around the base of the arrangement to conceal the foam and the rim of the round dish. Using more than one type of foliage is great for contrasting colours and textures.
  • Next, add your flowers to the arrangement and make sure that you space each type of flower apart so as not to create clusters. Start with the larger blooms and then add smaller flowers in between.
  • Finally, you can add very small filler flowers, perhaps berries and finer foliage to fill in any gaps.
  • Add your candles to the holders and put your flower and candle arrangement on display!

It’s important to remember that you can create any style or theme you want simply by choosing the right colours. For example, if you want to create a spring theme, you can use pastel coloured flowers. You can also use these arrangements as part of your Halloween table decor by using pumpkin and orange flowers and adding some black and white accessories, such as feathers instead of foliage. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination! Don’t forget to choose quality candles and select their colour based on the colour scheme of the flower and candle arrangement.
