Decorate your macramé plant hanger

Whether you wish to make your own macramé plant hanger or you already have one, it’s good to remember that there are a number of ways to make your design even more beautiful and impressive. Here are a few ways of accessorizing your macramé plant hanger and giving it more colour.

Dipping

For the most part, your macramé will be white or close to white in colour. White might not suit your décor and it tends to get dirty faster. Dip dying your macramé plant hanger will add colour, style, and help conceal any stains. All you need to do is mix your fabric dye as per the directions and soak your macramé. The longer you soak it, the darker the colour. The colour usually also changes slightly as it dries so keep this in mind.

Embroidery

You can also use embroidery floss to add some colour to your macramé. The great part about this idea is that you can use more than one colour if you like. Remove the hanging plant and wrap the floss around the areas you want to brighten up. If you ever get tired of the colours, you can always remove them and opt for another colour instead.

Rustic

If you want to colour your plant hanger but you want it to suit your rustic décor, you could opt for a mustard yellow or light brown dye. Filter coffee has been used many times for staining clothing and giving it that vintage look. You can use the same technique on your macramé. Again, just like any other kind of dye, the longer you soak your macramé in coffee, the darker it will come out.

Seasonal

Embrace each season by decorating the base your macramé plant holder. You can add something like artificial autumn leaves during this season or add something with a Christmas theme (like mistletoe) during the festive season.

Your macramé need not be plain anymore! These plant hangers make hanging plant displays that much more attractive and they offer plenty of stability in terms of holding your potted plant in place.
