Autumn wreath design tips and ideas

Autumn might seem like a dull season for some. However, now is the time when the world undergoes some of the most beautiful changes. Make the most of this season by creating your very own autumn wreath. Not sure where to begin? Here are some stunning ideas.

Classic autumn colours

If you are a traditionalist, you may like the idea of sticking to classic colours for your autumn wreath. These colours include rusty orange, mustard yellow and deep red as well as dark green and off-white for a bit of contrast. You can attach large blooms and pine cones along with wheat stalks to the wreath and hang it on your front door or in your hallway.

Dried flowers

Since we see a lot of dried leaves in various colours, it makes sense that dried flowers will also make a stunning autumn wreath. Make sure that you choose the right types of dried blooms. Amaranthus and roses make lovely dried flowers. You can even add some dried barley. You should also use dried foliage to create a rustic backdrop for your display. Dried flowers are somewhat more susceptible to the elements like wind. So, this wreath is best displayed indoors.

Rich orange colour scheme

Orange is a popular colour for the autumn season and, as such, for your autumn wreath too! You can include a selection of orange blooms as well as small pumpkins and berries too. For some colour contrast, add a few acorns here and there. Of course, foliage will help you create the perfect base for your design.

No matter which design you choose, you will need to select the right base for your autumn wreath. You can use embroidery hoops or round floral foam with chicken wire. Use floral wire to secure your stems, foliage and other elements to the wreath. Green wire is best because it won’t stand out too much. Apart from fresh and dried flowers, you can also consider using silk blooms if you want a display that you can enjoy year after year.
