Activities to enjoy on Mother’s Day

While most people think of Mother’s Day as a day to spoil mum with lavish gifts, this is not necessarily the case. You too can make her feel loved and appreciated by taking time out of your day to spend at least a few hours with her. This day comes around just once a year and we never know how many of them we will get. So, it’s best to make the most of it. Here are some great activities that you can enjoy with her.

Scrumptious brunch

Most people think that Mother’s Day is best celebrated with breakfast in bed. However, you don’t need to limit yourself to breakfast. Perhaps mum isn’t much of a breakfast person. So, instead, you could treat her to a delicious brunch. This gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to breakfast and lunch.

Help with gardening

If mum enjoys gardening, you can spend a few hours in the garden with her on Mother’s Day. Help her pluck out weeds, remove dead plants and plant some new flowering plants. This is the perfect time to prepare a garden for summer and it also gives you the opportunity to chat and catch up. Once you are all done in the garden, you can spend some extra time together enjoying a light meal or cup of tea.

Picnic

If mum enjoys informal meals, then a Mother’s Day picnic is perfect for her. If you already have a basket, you can simply fill it with all the food, beverages and utensils you need. On the other hand, if you do not have a picnic basket, you can buy a picnic hamper online. These hampers usually include everything you need for your picnic. If mum has any particular favourites, you can always buy them separately and pack them inside the picnic basket before you leave.

Movie time

For an extra relaxing Mother’s day, you can spend a few hours at her place and watch movies together. Make sure that you have all of the snacks and popcorn you need to last the movies. Remember to consider watching some of mum’s favourites even if you have seen them dozens of times. This day is all about her.

Get crafty together

For arts and crafts mothers, you can spend some time together getting creative. Crafts come in all shapes and sizes. They may include cutting and pasting, painting, assembling and other techniques. Like gardening, this is a great way of spending Mother’s Day together while catching up.

There you have several excellent activities that you can enjoy with mum on Mother’s Day. Do your best to keep any distractions to a minimum by putting your phone on silent. If you have children of your own, you can even let the join in the fun.
