White blooms for your wedding this summer

During the hot summer months, many couples decide to get married. The weather is perfect and many different types of fresh flowers are in bloom. Nowadays, many brides choose to be accompanied by just a few bridesmaids, each wearing the same style of dress but in different colors. With this diverse color scheme and the fact that brides want to stand out, white blooms are becoming more and more popular for weddings.

The bride’s bouquet

White blooms are great for wedding bouquets because they have an elegant look that draws attention and is modest enough not to overshadow the bride’s gown. You don’t have to worry about colors clashing because white looks great with any color. There are various white flowers available from your local florist in summer and these include peonies, freesias, irises, hydrangeas, irises and delphiniums which are ideal for handmade bouquets. Filler flowers like Queen Anne’s Lace and Baby’s Breath are suitable choices for almost any bouquet. The roses and peonies look beautiful when put together and both come in white. Add some dark green foliage to create a contrasting base for the arrangement.

Decorate the ceremony venue

When it comes to decorating areas for your reception and ceremony, you have even more options to choose from. If you want to decorate an archway with flowers or any other place that leaves them without water, you should select flowers that don’t wilt too easily. Carnations and mums do well for long periods without water, as do roses. First place some greenery along the base of the arrangement, then top it with white blooms. If you use flowers that need water, you can place a special plastic tube with water at the base of each stem. These tubes clip onto the stems and will provide the flowers with the nutrients they need to stay fresh throughout your celebrations.

The perfect reception

As for your reception, you will most likely be hosting the event indoors or at least in a shady area where the flowers will stay out of the sun. These bouquets can be more colorful if you wish and need not be the same type or color as the flowers used in your bridal bouquet or bridesmaids bouquets. Snapdragons, roses, and gerberas are just a few of the more popular white blooms available this time of year. Not to mention all the other color options and greenery, of course.

While white may seem like a basic colour, the right white blooms really can make your wedding a truly elegant and opulent affair. The key is to make sure that they are backed by some lush greenery to ensure that they still stand out even when most of the other décor and linens are also white.
