Vase design with beads

Are you tired of those boring vases you always use to display your flowers? Are you looking for a fun and creative way to solve them? Well, with a few basic things, you too can make your own bead vase design! Just follow these simple steps.

Vase design supplies:

  • Vase of your choice (preferably without curves or patterns)
  • Elastic thread (the type used for making bracelets and necklaces)
  • Beads of your choice
  • Needle for threading the beads onto the elastic thread

How to make a beaded vase:

  • Make sure your vase is clean and dry before you begin.
  • Measure a piece of string to see how long it takes to make a string of beads that will wrap around the vase once. The thread shouldn’t be slack, so make sure you stretch it out a bit. You want it to fit snugly in the vase when you’re done. Use the first thread to help you measure the rest and cut several threads.
  • Now comes the fun part! Start stringing your beads. You can use just one colour per strand and simply switch between them as you place them in the vase. This is the fastest approach of course. If you like something a little more complex, you can alternate the beads on each strand to create a variety of patterns.
  • As you complete each strand, secure it in a knot and place it on top of the vase. This will allow you to keep track of how many more you need to complete your vase design, and you’ll be able to see your work as you go.
  • After adding the last string of beads, you can add some water to the vase and fill it with flowers that match the colours of your beads. If you don’t want to use fresh flowers, you can also opt for paper or silk flowers to decorate your new vase.

Some bead design ideas

There are so many fun ways to get creative with your beaded vase design. Some ideas you might use for inspiration include:

  • Using all the colours of the rainbow to create a bright and eye catching design.
  • Use one colour but in many different shades so you can “fade” from dark to light or light to dark.
  • Try selecting colours that create contrast like yellow and blue or orange and deep purple. Alternate between these colours for an intense design.

Best of all, your bead vase design can be changed and redesigned whenever you like. The beads are not glued in place which means you can remove each band, rearrange them or replace them entirely with new beads. It’s completely up to you!
