Short-stemmed flower display ideas

Sometimes the most beautiful blooms have short stems. This often means that we either resist the urge to pick them or, if we do, they end up wilting before we can find a way to display them appropriately. Short-stemmed flower arrangements can be absolutely stunning and perfect for smaller spaces. If you are not sure how to show off these blooms, here are some excellent ideas.

Small vases

Just as there are tall vases for long-stemmed flowers, so too are there short vases for short-stemmed flower stems. These vases are usually designed to hold short-stemmed blooms but they are not designed for a single stem or small cluster of flowers. They need a decent number of stems to fill the vase and create the perfect display. Another great option, if you don’t have a short vase, is for you to opt for a non-transparent vase and then fill it with pebbles and then water. Add your flowers to the top and they will look lovely.

Mugs and teacups

Another great way of showing off a handful of shorter flowers is by displaying them in a teacup or coffee mug. You will need a handful of stems to fill the cup and you can even add some foliage too. If you want to present somebody with a gift for a special occasion, a themed mug can help you create the perfect short-stemmed flower arrangement.

Jars and cans

If you don’t have a suitable mug or cup, you can create a short-stemmed flower display in a jar or can. These might not look all that good at first. However, you can dress them up with wrapping paper, fabric or you can decoupage the exterior of the holder to personalise your vase.

Salt and pepper shakers

If you have just a few small flowers with short stems, you can get really creative and display them in something as small as a salt or pepper shaker. These are excellent if you want to create a tablescape with your main display in the middle and smaller short-stemmed flower arrangements around it.

These are just a few excellent ways in which you can create your very own short-stemmed flower displays. You will never need to let a short-stemmed bloom go to waste ever again with the help of these decorative techniques.
