Romantic vase idea for Valentine’s Day

When shopping for Valentine’s Day gifts, fresh flowers are usually at the top of that list. Red roses are particularly popular. Of course, if you want your blooms to look their best, you need to make sure that they are displayed in the appropriate vase. Even if you don’t have a pretty vase at home, you can make your own romantic vase with just a few basic supplies.

Romantic vase supplies:

  • An old vase

  • Colourful tissue paper

  • A pair of scissors

  • Photographs and other accessories to suit the occasion

  • Decoupage glue

  • Finishing spray

  • Sponge brush

  • A clean, damp cloth

Directions:

  • Before you being making your very special, romantic vase, you need to make sure that it is properly cleaned both inside and out. You should also dry the exterior perfectly.

  • It is ideal to use a vase that has a flat design since you will be sticking photos and various decorations to it.

  • Cut your tissue paper into small pieces and use the decoupage glue to stick them all over the vase until it is completely covered.

  • If need be, you can apply a second or third layer of tissue paper before you proceed.

  • Allow the tissue paper to dry completely between layers before adding another.

  • Once dry, you can start applying your photos. Since this is a special design for somebody you love, you should include photos of yourself with them. Add as many of these pictures as possible. You can duplicate some of them but make sure that they are placed on opposite sides of the vase.

  • Once you have completed the picture design, you can add some accessories like stick on jewels or hearts if you like.

  • Allow the glue to set before covering with finishing spray. This will hold everything in place and ensure that your vase looks its best for years to come.

  • You should allow the vase to stand for another 30 minutes or so before you add some water and fresh blooms.
