New research suggests show flowers in the work place increase work productivity

The research lasted eight months and there were three different settings to see which setting had the higher productivity rate. Participants performed common problem solving or creativity tasks in ordinary office environments. One workplace setting had flowers and plants, another had a sculpture and the last setting had no decoration at all.
When the study began both men and women showed innovative thinking and better ideas for solving problems that had arisen in the office with flowers and plants. Overall men came up with 15% more ideas than women but the women were more creative with the problem solving solutions.
Dr. Ulrich who has also done research on other environments such as stress and health added, “We know the importance of learning, for example, how natural surroundings affect drivers, school children and hospital patients. To businesses, it should be equally as important to understand what features can improve performance at work and make employees more productive”.
