Paper flowers for Halloween

Halloween is a great opportunity to dress up and decorate your home. Although most decorations involve ghosts, witches, vampires and various creatures, flowers can also play an important role in creating a spooky atmosphere. Here we explain how to make your own bouquet of paper flowers for Halloween.

Supplies you need:

  • Tissue paper
  • Colour paper
  • Dowels
  • Vase
  • Thin ribbon
  • String
  • Tape

Steps to follow:

  • Start by cutting squares of tissue paper and layer each one on top of the other. For each bloom, you need six layers.
  • Fold all of these pieces of paper like an accordion while keeping them together.
  • Now find the middle point and gently fold the papers here to mark the midpoint.
  • Add a dowel to the middle of the flower.
  • If you like, you can trim the two ends of the paper accordion to round or texture them.
  • Fluff out the paper on either side and separate each piece gently.
  • You can cut fun Halloween-themed decorations out of paper and stick them to the centre of each of your paper flowers.
  • Place the flowers in a vase as desired.
  • Cut your ribbon and curl one end of it before inserting between the flowers.

The best part about using paper flowers is that you can take your time preparing them. You can work early enough so you can focus on other aspects of food and decor when the time approaches. When choosing colours, remember that black, lime green, orange and purple together look perfectly creepy.
