Fun graduation hat style flower arrangement

Graduation is an important moment for anyone. Whether it’s finishing high school or university, this is the next step in their young lives that will define their future. Such an amazing achievement is always worth celebrating and what better way than by making a very special graduation themed flower arrangement?

You need:

• Graduation cap
• Floral foam
• Plastic tray for inside the cap
• Flowers and foliage of your choice

Method:

• Cut your floral foam to size so that it fits inside the graduation cap and will not wobble around.
• Place the plastic tray in the bottom of the cap. This is to protect it from getting wet.
• Soak the floral foam in fresh water before placing it on the plastic tray.
• If you like you can secure the foam to the tray with hot glue BEFORE soaking the foam.
• Start arranging your flowers and foliage.
• Make sure that you choose bright and colourful blooms. It’s often best to opt for a mixed flower theme so that it sends a message of celebration. Some great colours include yellow, orange, green, and even spots of blue or dark purple. Some examples of flowers you can use include roses, lilies, daisies, and sunflowers. Mix it up and make it fun!
• Start in the centre of the foam – at the top – and add your main focal flowers. Add some mass flowers around them along with some foliage in between. If you have smaller gaps, you can add smaller daisies to act as fillers. You want to conceal all of the foam without squashing all the flowers together.
• You might need to secure the cap to the foam using small pins. This is just to prevent the cap from falling down and revealing the foam inside.
• Remember to support the cap when carrying and presenting this arrangement. If you are using it as a centrepiece, then you simply need to place it on the table.
• If you are making a centrepiece and you don’t want to use floral foam, you can use a glass or plastic container/vase inside the cap instead. You will need to secure the cap to the vase and this can be done using any kind of suitable glue (if you don’t plan on using the cap again) or strong tape.
