Fresh flowers for your scrapbook
Fresh flowers can be used to decorate your home in so many fantastic ways. They can even be used in various arts and crafts. If you are a fan of scrapbooking, you will really enjoy putting your pressed flowers to good use. Here is what you need to know about scrapbooking and how you can use beautiful blooms to set your scrapbook apart from all the rest.
Scrapbooking evolution
Scrapbooks have come a long way over the years. In the past, many people would simply stick, staple or somehow secure sentimental items in a book for safekeeping. Today, there are special scrapbooks that are used to hold and preserve the integrity of these items and photos so that they do not become discoloured or damaged.
Sturdy base
Whether you want to add fresh flowers or any other trinket to your scrapbook page, it’s good to make sure that you choose a book with sturdy pages. You can choose to use the same colour page in the entire book or you can alternate between multiple colours based on the colour scheme of each spread. For example, if you want to make a wedding album and you have photos with plenty of green background, you don’t want to use green pages. You may have some pages that are green but they are used to hold photos with more neutral backgrounds.
Strong album
As much as your fresh flowers, photos and other items need a strong page to which they can be attached, they also need to be placed in a strong and sturdy album. The album cover can be made from tough cardboard and covered with fabric or decorative paper. There are plenty of designs available.
Combining various elements
Now for the fun part! Once you have your album and pages ready, all you need to do is plan your book. Take on each page, one at a time. Your first page does not need to have anything too specific. However, once you turn the first page, you will have a spread consisting of two adjacent pages. These pages should have the same colour background (cardboard) and the theme should be consistent across both of them as if they were a single page. You can add fresh flowers, trinkets and just about anything you like. Provided, of course, that it suits the theme of these pages.
Remember, you should never rush when it comes to scrapbooking. This is a relaxing hobby that requires great attention to detail and proper planning. Make sure that the fresh flowers you use are properly pressed and dried before adding them. If not, they can start to rot and ruin your scrapbook.
