Festive flower and plant crafts

The festive season is upon us and, if you have not yet started decorating your home, now is the time to start. Since the weather outside is not all that pleasant, you may feel the need to keep busy with some festive flower and plant crafts. Not only are these great indoor activities, but they will also help you decorate various areas of your home. Here are some wonderful and practical ideas.

Wreath designs

Wreaths are popular designs for various important occasions, including Christmas. They can be displayed on doors, walls or even as a centrepiece on your dining room table. It is important to consider where you will display your wreath before you begin. This is because a table wreath will be significantly smaller than one you would hang from your door. All you need for this design is a wreath base, foliage and your favourite festive flower or flowers. For fresh flowers, you will need to use a floral foam wreath base whereas artificial flowers can be attached to a wire frame. You can also add accessories like pine cones, cinnamon sticks and a pretty ribbon to finish it off.

Festive centrepiece

There are so many wonderful ways in which you can add a festive flower arrangement to your table for the holidays. If you love tradition, you could opt for a bouquet consisting of lush green foliage along with some red and white blooms like roses and carnations or chrysanthemums. You can add berries to this arrangement too. Placed in floral foam on a plastic tray, this display is the perfect height for any table. Alternatively, you could place a pretty wreath on the table and add a candle to the middle. Another idea is to create a tablescape. This means that you will need to create a main arrangement for the middle of the table along with smaller ones to place on either side. You can also add some accessories in between. For a more modern style, you should stick to just two colours. So, for instance, you could use red and gold with a touch of green. To add gold, you can spray paint some accessories or add flower picks to your bouquets. You can also spray paint some pine cones gold and add them along the centre of the table.

Spruce up your tree

If you want to make your tree look extra special this year, you can add some pretty blooms. The most popular festive flower, the poinsettia, is not actually a flower at all! What looks like red blooms are actually leaves that have changed colour. Of course, this does not make them any less beautiful. You can add fresh poinsettias to your tree or you could opt for artificial ones. You could even look up a fun paper flower craft online and have your children make some out of red paper so that they can get involved too.

Not only will these ideas make your home look great and help you enjoy your time indoors, but they also give you a sense of accomplishment. When you create a truly beautiful festive flower arrangement or display, you can expect your guests to pay you plenty of compliments.
