Caring For A Tropical Flower Arrangement

A tropical flower arrangement has the kind of colourful blend that is guaranteed to light up the room.  If you are trying to decide what kinds of flowers to send a loved one, you can be sure that a tropical bouquet will always be appreciated.  Though their beauty is unrivalled, tropical or exotic flowers will also require a certain degree of extra care.  So, before you schedule that flower delivery, you should do some research on how to properly care for them.  This way, you will be able to enjoy their bold, bright blooms for that much longer.

Tropical Flowers Arrangement

Whenever you want to take proper care of any kind of flower, you need to consider the natural environment that they prefer.  As far as tropical blooms are concerned, it should come as no surprise that they enjoy different conditions compared to roses and carnations.  Most of our most loved tropical flowers come from locations like Hawaii and other areas with a tropical climate.  This means that the sun will be positioned directly overhead at least once during the solar year.  Such areas enjoy hot weather but, unlike deserts, they also have high levels of humidity and the annual rainfall is also quite high.  Now, tropical plants that naturally grow in countries like Indonesia and Brazil can still be cultivated in other countries provided their natural environment can be recreated.

So, if you want to keep your tropical flowers happy, you simply need to keep them in the kind of environment in which they naturally thrive.  Start by placing them in a sunny room.  Avoid cool rooms with little light because tropical flowers require warmer conditions.  That said, cut flowers should never be placed in direct sunlight and tropical blooms are no exception.  If you want to increase the humidity levels in the room, you can spray the bouquet with some clean, fresh water on a regular basis.

Make sure that you keep your tropical flower bouquet away from heaters, air conditioners and similar devices.  Heaters are great to use in the colder months but you should never keep your flowers too close.  You should also never put your tropical flowers in an air conditioned room since it will get too cold for them.

You should also be aware that there are several varieties of tropical flowers available from your florist.  Some of which are more hardy than others.  That said, flowers like the orchid might seem really delicate but they are actually the longest lasting of all cut flowers!  Remember that tropical flowers tend to cost a bit more than other flowers because of the amount of money, time and effort that is invested in growing each stem.

If you are looking for the best flowers to include in a tropical arrangement, you should certainly consider different kinds of lilies, anthuriums, plumerias and orchids.  Plumerias, in case you don’t know, are the flower of choice when making Hawaiian leis.  They are absolutely gorgeous but their sap is poisonous so take care and keep them away from children and pets.  You should also include any relevant care instructions and warnings if you wish to send tropical flowers to somebody as a gift.
