Turn regular items into a gorgeous flower vase

When you take a look around your home, you may notice a few items that you no longer use. They could be chipped, damaged or simply no longer as beautiful as they were when they were new. Before you discard these items, think twice. Consider using them to create your very own, unique flower vase. Here are a few ideas.

Jars, canisters and measuring cups

If you have any old jars, measuring cups or similar items in the back of your kitchen cupboard gathering dust, it’s time to get them out. Wash them thoroughly and test each container to make sure that it is not cracked. Shallow containers might need to be stuffed with floral foam in order to properly support your blooms.

Egg cups

If you want to make small arrangements with short-stemmed flowers, you will love using egg cups. You don’t need too many blooms and you should select flowers that are larger like daisies. Of course, they should not be too large or the arrangement will be top heavy. You can also use small filler flowers such as baby’s breath to fill the spaces in between. Remember to use an uneven number of blooms. So, you can use one focal flower or three.

Mugs and glasses

Colourful mugs and glasses could be just what you need to create a gorgeous flower arrangement. When you use mugs or glasses as a flower vase, you will need to take into account the length of the stems. The longer the stems, the taller your vase will need to be. The larger the glass, the more flower stems you can add. You can also create a lovely design by using multiple glasses or mugs of various shapes and sizes.

Bowls

An old bowl can also make a lovely flower vase. Depending on the shape of the bowl, you might need to use flower foam to secure the stems in place. In other cases, you might be able to simply place your flowers around the edge and then prop the rest up in the middle.

There is no reason to let any of your old kitchen items go to waste. They can always be reused and repurposed to improve the décor in your home. You can use them as a flower vase for fresh flowers, silk flowers or even as planters for potted plants.
