Stunning seasonal blooms

Many florists like to arrange bouquets using any type of flower that they fancy. In doing so, however, the price of the bouquet can easily rise when non-seasonal flowers are used. Seasonal flowers are significantly more affordable and you don’t have to sacrifice beauty either.

Winter seasonal flowers

There are a number of UK flowers that bloom during the winter months. They might not be as abundant as summer blooms but there is no reason you can’t make the most beautiful arrangements during the winter. Depending on where the growers are located, you can enjoy a variety of flowers including camelias, freesia, chrysanthemums, irises, roses, lilies, baby’s breath, winter jasmine, and snowdrops too. Since Christmas is in winter, many winter arrangements take on this theme. Which is why these arrangements are often red, white and green in colour. Silver and blue or gold accessories can also be added if this is the theme you wish to create.

Spring seasonal flowers

As the weather becomes warmer, plants appear to come back to life. They produce fresh flowers perfect for spring bouquets. Examples of flowers that are known to bloom in the spring include chrysanthemums, daisies, daffodils, amaryllis, camelias, carnations, tulips, orchids, lilac, jasmine and wax flowers. Spring flower arrangements have a unique appearance and scent. Not to mention the delicate colours used in these floral displays.

Summer seasonal flowers

Summer is understandably the most abundant season of all. There are plenty of blooms from which to choose including roses, daisies, chrysanthemums, dahlias, delphiniums, freesias, gardenias, orchids, peonies, sunflowers, and many more. Summer flower arrangements are usually brighter in colour with rich corals.

Autumn seasonal flowers

As temperatures drop again during the autumn months, we see our surroundings change once again. Trees lose their leaves and the most popular colours for flower arrangements include red, orange, yellow, brown and dark green. Flowers that are in season around this time of year include roses, chrysanthemums, lilies, snowdrops and winter jasmine. You can also add sticks and pumpkins to your displays. This is particularly great if you are creating Halloween flower arrangements.

As you may have noticed, some flowers are in season during more than one season. This can be an indication of their hardiness or they could be in season during the warmer months and for the early part of the cooler months. If you are ever unsure, simply check the seasonal flowers section when shopping for flowers online. You will find all the best fresh seasonal blooms here.
