Memorial flower garden opens for last Titanic Survivor

A flower garden has been opened in memory of Millvina Dean, the last Titanic survivour, who sadly passed away on 31st of May 2009 at the age of 98. Her ashes were scattered at berth 44, the starting point for the Titanic’s maiden voyage. The beautiful garden was paid for by the Millvina fund and Southampton Council. The flowers were placed to remember her legacy of being the youngest Titanic passenger, and ultimately the last one to survive.

Millvina was just a baby when she was on board the ill fated luxury liner which hit an iceberg on April 14 1912 and sank in the early hours of moning on 15 April 1912.

On its opening many people left floral tributes with bouquets of flowers in rememberance, not only to Miss Millvina Dean but to the 1500 people who lost their lives. The Millvina Dean memorial flower garden is situated next to SeaCity museum.
