Making your own wildflower bouquet

Mother nature has a wonderful way of decorating our surroundings with the most amazing floral displays. If you want to make the perfect flower arrangement, you need only take a page out of her book. When making your own wildflower bouquet, take a moment to imagine the beauty of a field full of blooms.

You need:

Wild flowers of your choice

– Foliage

– Scissors

– Twine, string or ribbon

– A rubber band

Method:

  • If you live near a field and you are able to collect your own selection of fresh wildflowers, you can take a relaxing walk and collect your favourites. Just make sure that you choose flowers that are just starting to open and keep a bucket of water with you so that they don’t perish before you get home.

  • If you are not able to pick your own wild blooms, you should be able to find some at your local florist or nursery. Rice flowers, dandelions, chamomile, yarrow, and buttercups are all great options. If you want great greenery, you could use fennel and artemisia.

  • Once you have let your flowers enjoy a long drink, you can start to clean the stems one by one. As you do, you can place them in their new home – a clean vase of fresh water.

  • When cleaning up the stems, you need to remove any lower leaves so that they don’t end up under the waterline.

  • You should not try to arrange the bouquet perfectly because you want it to look like they have simply been plucked from the field.

  • Wrap a rubber band around the stems before trimming them to the same length. Your flowers should not all be arranged at equal heights but the ends of the stems should be equal.

  • You can now cover up the rubber band with a ribbon or raffia.

  • Make sure that you keep the bouquet out of direct sunlight, winds, and in fresh water;.
