Host a fabulous autumn party

Autumn parties are great fun. This time of year is not too hot and it’s not too cold either. The winter has not quite set in but summer has passed and this means that there are that many more options in terms of your menu and décor. While some might be sad to see summer go, others realise that autumn has much to offer. By using nature as our guide, anyone can host an amazing and memorable autumn event!

Food

First things first, plan your menu. Foods should not be too heavy but you can offer your guests some cool weather comforts. Think of seasonal fresh produce and plan your meal around them. Pumpkin is king around this time of year and, for this reason, you might like to include pumpkin soup or a pumpkin pie to your menu. Do not opt for both – this will be overkill. Your menu should include three courses and your main course should consist of at least two types of meat and several vegetables. A light meat and a dark meat are always good. Don’t forget about some carbohydrates for that touch of comfort and gravy is a must!

Beverages

It’s important to offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Choose your wines based on the food choices and pair them accordingly. You can serve sparkling wine as your guests arrive or if you would like to make a toast. Dessert wine can also be served if desired. Other beverages include non-alcoholic options like juice, soda, coffee, and tea. This is not only to accommodate for non-drinkers but also any guests who are underage.

Decor

Set the scene with the right décor! Fresh flowers are always a hit and they look even better when paired with just the right lighting. Autumn décor means that you should opt for the right colours. These include dark red, rusty orange, mustard yellow, and dark green. You can even add a touch of brown, plum, and cream if you like. Your flowers should also be seasonal for an authentic display and to ensure affordability. If you are in doubt, ask your florist for their seasonal recommendations. Remeber, your flower arrangements should not be tall of they will make it difficult for your guests to communicate. They should not take up too much space on the table or you will not have room for your plates and glasses.

With all of these elements of your party planned, you can rest assured that it will be a seasonal success! These basic guidelines apply to all types of autumn parties including anniversaries, birthdays, and all other celebrations.
