Get your garden ready for a party

Your garden is an excellent location for getting your friends and family together for all sorts of occasions. Before you play host, however, you need to make sure that your garden is properly prepared to impress your guests.

Firstly, you need to get your garden in shape. If you have not yet performed your annual post-winter clean up, now is the time to do so. Remove any debris and plants that have perished over the winter. Take the time to cut and trim where necessary. Plant colourful flowering plants in certain areas to make your garden beautiful.

Now you need to determine where you plan on setting up any tables and chairs. If you want to serve plated meals or food that requires knives, forks, and spoons, then you should arrange enough place settings to accommodate each guest. If you want to serve finger foods, then you can skip the formal seating and simply place chairs with smaller tables here and there. You can also have a buffet set on one end of the yard where it will be safe from any sun, falling leaves, and so on. For this reason, many people choose to have their food tables covered by a kind of marques.

If you are worried about the weather changing at the last minute, you could have a fun tent party in your yard. Now, these are not your average tents but rather large ones that can host dozens of people.

As far as décor is concerned, you can use fresh flower arrangements on your buffet and/or dining tables. You can even use wires to secure small bunches of flowers or individual blooms to various part of your garden.
If you are wondering what kinds of flowers to use, think about roses, carnations, gardenias, and lilies. They are all bright and bold enough to make a statement. Depending on the season and the atmosphere you are trying to create, you can choose to use pastel colours or brighter shades.

Your centrepieces should be the appropriate size for the table. You can create beautiful tables-capes or even water arrangements if you like. Floating flowers with floating candles look great in the day and even when the sun goes down.
