Fun Halloween table décor

Decorating your dinner table for Halloween can be a lot of fun and it gives you the opportunity to get creative! While you might be focussed on getting dressed up in fun costumes and setting out chocolates and sweets, it’s also about decorating your home. Fortunately, this time of year offers a number of options and allows us to have fun with various types of flowers and accessories.

Colour is the first thing that you need to consider. Orange, black, and white are the main three colours but you can also add red and brown if you like. Orange is associated with pumpkins, black with things like bats and spiders, while white is for skeletons and ghosts.

When making your Halloween tablescape, you should take note of the size of the table and how much space you need for each place setting. You don’t want to overdo it because it will mean that your guests won’t have much space to set their glasses, for example.

Now that you know how much space you have, you need to choose a few Halloween themed accessories like decorative skulls, black cats, witch hats, pumpkins, and even candles. The accessories you choose will depend on the theme of your table. If you want something fun yet elegant, you may prefer pumpkins and candles. If you are not too worried about elegance and you prefer a spooky approach, then a skull or two filled with chocolates is a great idea.

Your decorative items, like skulls, can also serve as candle holders provided they are fire resistant. You can even make or buy a spooky tree. To make your own, simply select a branch or several branches and bundle them together. Secure them to a base of floral foam and set in a black ceramic container (for example). Spray the branches with black paint. If you like you can use a glue gun to make spider webs. Apply some glue to a piece of floral foam and place another piece of foam on top. Gently pull them apart to create strings of glue and then drape over the tree. Repeat from various directions until you achieve the desired effect.

You can also decorate your buffet table if you are serving a buffet. However, make sure that you do so with care and don’t allow your flowers to touch any of the food items. Only use flowers that are not toxic or use artificial flowers instead if you want to play it safe.
