Create a flower arrangement with jelly

Making a flower arrangement does not need to be complicated or involve a large selection of blooms and supplies. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your own stunning centerpiece. In fact, you will be surprised to know just how easy it is so make a fun display with flowers and jelly!

What you need:

  • Fresh or silk flowers
  • Small, transparent vases or glasses like wine glasses or martini glasses
  • Jelly (choose a light colour or even transparent plain gelatin)

Method:

  • Start by preparing your glasses. You will need one glass for each flower arrangement. You can make several displays and create a tablescape.
  • Prepare your flowers by trimming the stems to a length of just a couple of centimeters. This applies to fresh and silk flowers alike. You can use different coloured flowers but make sure that you choose a colour that will suit the colour of the jelly. If you use gelatin with water, you can use any colour flowers you like. You can even use several colours in a single arrangement.
  • Mix your jelly or plain gelatin (if you want a transparent display) and pour a small amount into each vase.
  • Allow the layer to set or at least partially set before you place one or more flowers on top and add more jelly.
  • Don’t mix a large amount of jelly at once. You will need resting time in between so that your flowers can be properly arranged, layer by layer.
  • Once you are finished, allow the jelly flower arrangement to set in the fridge.
  • When you set your dinner table, you can add these centrepieces or use them to brighten up a buffet-style serving area. Keep these arrangements in the fridge for as long as possible so that they stay firm and fresh for the duration of your dinner party or event.

These arrangements are also really easy to transport. So, if you are planning on visiting somebody for dinner, you can always make this type of display and present it to them as a gift. If you are planning an event like a wedding or milestone birthday party, you can make these arrangements ahead of time and decorate each table according to the theme or colour scheme of the event.
