Container gardening for small spaces

When you live in a home with limited space, you might feel like you have no chance of enjoying your own garden. The good news is that container gardening could be the solution to your problem. Container gardening is simple and requires basic planning and maintenance.

Firstly, you need to determine how much space you do have for a mini garden. Even if it is just a corner on your balcony or in your living room, you need to measure it out and determine the kind of conditions this space has to offer. This means that you need to determine how warm or cold the area gets throughout the year as well as how much light your plants will receive. On top of this, you need to establish whether they will receive direct or indirect sunlight.

Once you know how much space you have available, you can then choose your container or containers. The size and height of these containers will depend on whether you plan on placing them on the floor or on a table or stand. The larger the container, the better it is to place it on the floor.

Now it’s time to choose your plants! When selecting your plants, you need to remember that they will all be enjoying the same soil. This means that they should all be of the same variety or at least enjoy the same type of soil and watering routine. Succulents and cacti are fantastic options for container gardening. They are easy to care for and they don’t grow too quickly. When planting these plants, remember to leave space in between to allow for growth. You can also top the soil with some decorative pebbles so that it adds to the colour and texture of the garden display.

You can even add accessories like decorative lizards or other animals that are often found in the same natural environments as cacti. If you want to brighten things up a bit, make sure that you purchase plant varieties that bloom. You can also add ceramic spheres or precious stones to your garden if you like.
