Colourful zinnia flower arrangement ideas

If you are fortunate enough to have zinnias growing in your garden, you will know that they produce blooms quite late into the summer season and even during the first weeks of autumn. They are exceptionally hardy flowers and they are also available in various bright colours. If you want to make the most of them, you should try these easy zinnia flower arrangement ideas.

Jugs

The first thing that you need to do when planning your zinnia flower arrangement is choose a vase. You should never feel limited to conventional vases. In fact, when you think outside the box a little, you will be pleasantly surprised by all the amazing options out there. If you plan on using a jug, remember that the top part might be smaller than the base. This means that you don’t need too many stems to create a full-looking display. You can mix it up in terms of colours and combine several zinnia types and colours.

Jars

Mason jars also make excellent vases for your zinnia flower arrangement. Unlike jugs or pitchers, the top of the jar is the same size as the base. To give your arrangement a full appearance without cramming too many stems inside, make sure that you rest each stem at an angle rather than propping it straight up. Again, you can mix up the colours and you can use plain or colourful jars to create a fun display.

Small glasses

When you order fresh flowers, you may find that one or more stems have been damaged or bent. Do not discard these flowers! You can still create a pretty zinnia flower arrangement using small glasses like shot glasses or teacups. The glasses or cups you use will depend on where the stem has been damaged and how short you will need to cut them. For very short stems, shot glasses offer enough support and you can place a single flower in each glass. For teacups, you will need longer stems and you should add three or five flowers to the display.

These are three of the easiest ways of creating the perfect zinnia flower arrangement without using any other flowers or even any foliage. Just be sure to trim the lower leaves and allow those closer to the flower to remain on the stem. The leaves on the stem will add more than enough greenery to your display.
