Bowl vase flower arrangement design tips

As you most likely already know by now, vases come in all shapes and sizes. Each type of vase suits different types of flowers. One of the most popular shapes to work with is the bowl vase. They are often used in centrepieces for events like weddings and birthdays. If you want to create your own centrepiece for your dinner table at home, here’s how to do so in a few easy steps.

What you need:

  • Bowl vase
  • White roses
  • White pompoms
  • Blue delphiniums
  • Blue hydrangeas
  • Foliage

Method:

  • Whenever arranging flowers, the most important thing to remember is to make sure that your vase is clean and not damaged. So, wash and rinse thoroughly before filling with water and inspecting for possible leaks.
  • Add flower preservative to the water as per the package instructions. This will help your blooms last longer.
  • Now start by arranging a layer of foliage around the rim of the vase. You will need to trim the stems as you go and you want them to rest from the bottom of one side of the vase and extend out the opposite side. When you are done, the stems will criss-cross throughout the bowl vase.
  • Next, you will need to add your roses. Again, work around the edge but, this time, just above the row of greenery.
  • Add blue hydrangeas where you have a lot of space available.
  • Now add some white pompom flowers in between along with the delphiniums.
  • Finish off by adding foliage here and there where there is a visible gap.

Remember that your flowers will need to be removed from the bowl vase every couple of days so that you can clean the vase and fill it with fresh water. When you do this, take a moment to inspect each stem. Look for slimy stems and dying flowers. Trim any slimy stems and remove dying or dead plant material right away to keep your bouquet looking its best for as long as possible.
