Arranging fresh flowers in a cylinder vase

Of all the vase shapes out there, the cylinder design is one of the most versatile. These vases are available in several sizes which means that they can accommodate a variety of type of fresh flowers. The taller the vase, the longer the stems can be and the more flowers they can hold. If you want to know how to make the most of your cylinder vase, here are some easy steps to follow.

You need:

  • A cylinder vase that is tall enough to hold roses
  • A selection of pink roses
  • A selection of Asiatic lilies (an uneven number like 3 or 5 stems is best)
  • Foliage

Method:

  • Start by preparing your vase. Make sure that it is clean and rinsed.
  • Add fresh water and some flower preserve to the vase. This will help keep your fresh flowers beautiful for that much longer.
  • Trim the stems of your foliage to suit the height of the vase and arrange them around the rim. Save some foliage for later to fill in the gaps.
  • Now trim the stems of your Asiatic lilies and add them to the vase. You should arrange them in the form of a triangle.
  • Trim and add the roses in between but be careful not to overcrowd the bouquet.
  • Next, finish it off by adding some greenery here and there.

Once your bouquet of fresh flowers is ready, make sure that you choose the perfect spot to display them. Because the lilies are arranged in the shape of a triangle, you can be sure that the bouquet will look great from every angle. It also helps create a lovely contrast between the triangular shape and the round appearance of the cylinder vase. Every two days you will need to remove the flowers, place them in a sink or bucket of clean water and clean your vase. Replace the water and add more flower preserve. Inspect the stems and, if they feel slimy, you should trim them again. The slime that builds up on the stems is bacteria and this will cause your flowers to perish sooner rather than later.
