Alternative spring flower décor
When the more pleasant weather arrives, nature seems to come back to life and everything around us takes on a whole new appearance. Fresh spring flowers are a top choice for this time of year but there are also plenty of other excellent ways of using flowers to brighten your home.
Dried flower candles
If you receive a fresh flower delivery or if you like the look of some blooms in your garden, you can enjoy them long after they perish. Flowers are not only lovely when they are fresh. They are also beautiful when dried. There are several methods that you can use to dry flowers. While some are best pressed, others can be hung upside down and there are methods that can speed up the drying process too.
Once you have your dried petals, you can arrange your flowers on the table before using craft glue to stick them to your candle. Make sure that your petals are all flat against the wax. Melt some paraffin wax in a double boiler and dip the entire candle in the wax. Remove and dip again before placing on a lined surface to cool. It usually takes about two hours for the candle to set. These are great for any room and even as gifts!
Ribbon vases
Flower arrangements are not only about the flowers. You will be amazed when you see what a difference the right vase can make too. Vases are available in all shapes, sizes, and colours. In many cases, vases can become damaged or simply outdated. This is easy to solve with some ribbons. Choose the colours you like and decide how you would like to arrange them. Using your hot glue gun, secure each ribbon in place from the top to the bottom. Alternate between the different colours and create your very own, unique vase. Remember to use fabric ribbons as opposed to paper ones. You are bound to spill water on the ribbon at some point and paper ribbons simply will not hold up.
