Mother’s Day is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning how you will spoil one of the most important people in your life. Whether you want to pamper your own mum or the mother of your children, it’s all about making her feel special and giving her a break from her usual routine.
Breakfast in bed
Start Mother’s Day off right with breakfast in bed. Depending on the age of your children, they might like to get involved too. Think about her favourite foods and what she likes to drink in the morning (tea, coffee, fresh fruit juice, etc) while planning the menu. A popular choice is a full English breakfast with something delicious for dessert such as pancakes or waffles.
No chores for the day
If you don’t have anything particular planned for the day, the one thing that is an absolute must for Mother’s Day is giving her the day off. She is the one who does most, if not all, of the cooking, cleaning and rest of the chores around the house. So, just for this one day, you should not allow her to lift a finger. This is the greatest gift you can give to any mother.
Mother’s Day Out
For those who would like to get out for a bit, you can plan a trip to the cinema, lunch at her favourite cafe or another activity that you can enjoy as a family. Remember, on such a busy day, you should always make reservations in advance.
A memorable gift
A small gift, at least, should be presented on Mother’s Day. Jewellery is a popular option but, of course, this might not suit everyone. So, if you want a more practical or affordable gift, why not choose a special gift hamper just for her? Hampers for mum come in all shapes and sizes. They include a variety of goodies including chocolates, champagne and even savoury treats. All you need to do is shop according to her preferences.
If you have young children, they might like to join in the activities. Homemade gifts like Mother’s Day cards, paper flower arrangements and paintings are all wonderful ideas. Get them involved so that everyone is part of the celebration.
