Uses for extra flowers

Fresh flowers are far too beautiful to let them go to waste. Fortunately, with these tips, you will never need to let another bloom end up in the garbage. Here are a few excellent uses for those extra or leftover flowers.

Broken stems

Sometimes flower stems are damaged before they have the chance to rest inside a pretty vase along with the rest of the blooms. Depending on where the stem is damaged, you can use this flower in many ways. You can create a gorgeous bud flower arrangement by placing it in a small, slender vase or even a teacup. You can add some foliage or small filler flowers if you like. Another option is to trim the stem and slip the stem into your hair.

Half a bouquet

Once you display your flowers, you might notice that certain flowers wilt before others. Once half or more than half of your flowers have perished, you might not like the way the remaining blooms look in their original vase. In this case, you have a few options. You can place the remaining flowers in a smaller vase or you can create several bud flower arrangements.

Perishing blooms

When you notice your flowers start to wilt, you should remove them right away. This will prevent them from affecting the remaining fresh blooms. You can then decide to dry or press the wilting flower before it completely loses its shape and colour. These dried or pressed flowers can then be used in various delightful crafts and even to decorate gifts for loved ones. If you are not able to maintain the beauty of the flower by pressing or drying, you can always keep the dried flower petals in a sealed container and, when you have enough, you can make your own potpourri.

With all of these ideas in mind, there really is no reason not to make the most of every flower you buy or receive as a gift!
