Seasonal flowers and décor for your home this autumn

While many people associate colour and beauty with the warmer summer months, there is plenty of beauty to enjoy during autumn too. The seasonal flowers that are available during this time of year will not disappoint! They are bright, warm and they are perfect for creating a welcoming space. Here are some tips to help you embrace autumn this year.

Recycled vases and planters

Instead of running out to buy new planters every time your plants grow, look around your home and garden for items you can use instead. You can even check your shed if you have one. Here you will often find fantastic reusable items like baskets, buckets, watering cans and more. If the item is waterproof, you can use it as a vase. If not, you can use it as a temporary planter. Temporary because many materials (like wood) will deteriorate over time and they will need to be replaced. Another option is to place a plastic tray inside the basket or box and place wet floral foam on top before adding your seasonal flowers.

Fruity candleholders

Fruit is excellent for decorating your table and various areas of your home. If you want to display tea candles without worrying about them making a mess or possibly causing any other problems, you can use fruit. All you need to do is carve the top of the fruit (like an apple, orange or something similar). Make sure that the hole is big enough to hold the tea candle. It should fit snugly inside. Once positioned, you can put the candle on the table and light when the time comes. You can use a variety of fruits or stick to a single type in order to maintain a specific colour scheme.

Alternative colour scheme

While most people think of autumn seasonal flowers as orange or yellow, you can opt for an alternative colour scheme if you prefer. Green is always a lovely colour to bring into your home. Especially around this time of year when the trees are losing their leaves. Place some wispy green plants (like a spider plant) on your table and add green apples with tea candles (as mentioned above) as well as other green décor. Another interesting idea is to use a white pumpkin as a planter to hold some succulents. This makes a truly superb autumn centrepiece.

Now, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and get creative with those autumn blooms and designs! If you are looking for the very best blooms at this time of year, ask your florist about their seasonal flowers.
