The RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2014

That time of year had come again!  It was time for Prestige Flowers and other flower lovers to take advantage of one of the most popular flower shows.  A florist and gardener’s delight, the show this year did not fail to produce some of the most wonderful displays.  Whether you are an expert florist, a new flower fanatic or simply looking for some inspiration, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show was where it all come together beautifully like a perfectly arranged bouquet.

The show was open from 30th of June until the 5th of July and the main themes were to grow, inspire and escape.  For those who were fortunate enough to attend the show, you could not help but feel your mood lifting as you pass by all the superb displays.  Messages of hope and safe retreats where you could relax your mind, body and soul where everywhere to be found and really allowed visitors to experience the gardens rather than just look at them.

The growing theme was not just about growing beautiful flowers but also growing fresh, natural and delicious produce.  There were several stands selling arts, crafts, garden accessories and other practical items including handbags.  The floral marquee was perfect for guests to look around and shop for fresh flowers and potted plants and other highlights included the impressive Festival of Roses & Floristry and the RHS Celebrity Theatre.

With plenty of green space to relax, garden sculptures on display in all areas and helpful attendees and experts ready and waiting to answer any questions you have, the show was the perfect escape and easy to navigate.

As with any top class flower show, there were also awards given out as an added incentive to the participants.  The award for Best Show Garden went to The Essence of Australia which was designed by Jim Fogarty for the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.  The RHS People’s Choice Award for Best Show Garden went to Jordan’s Wildlife Garden designed by Selina Botham.  The Best Summer Garden award went to Space to Connect and Grow by Jeni Cairns (in collaboration with Sophie Antonelli).  The award for Best Conceptual Garden went to Sloth – Quarry of Silences by Sheena Seeks.  The People’s Choice Award for Best Small Garden went to Hedgehog Street by Tracy Foster and the best ‘Your Garden, Your Budget’ Garden when to Garden of Soltude by Alexandra Froggatt.  Check the RHS website for a full listing of all the medalists.  Their website also has some stunning photographs and video footage that will make you eager to attend next year.
