PrestigeTop 3 – Make your flowers last longer!

The one thing most of us worry about when purchasing or receiving flowers is how long the lifespan will last for. We all try various ways to make the flowers last as long as possible and in this article is three unconventional ways to help flowers survive for longer.

The first tip we have is to add a small amount of bleach to the flowers. Freshly cut flowers will last longer if you add ¼ teaspoon of bleach per quarter litre of vase water. Another good tip is to add 3 drops of bleach and 1 teaspoon of sugar for every quarter of litre of water. This will stop the water getting cloudy and will inhibit the growth of bacteria.

Hairspray is another good tip to try and prolong the flowers life. Just as it preserves your hairstyle, a spritz of hairspray can preserve your cut flowers. Make sure you’re at least 1 foot away from the flowers and give them a quick spray on the underside of the leaves and petals.

Vinegar is the last unusual way to prolong the flowers life. One way to do this is to mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons of sugar and add it to the vase water before adding the flowers. Make sure you change the water, with more vinegar and sugar, every few days to keep the flowers alive for as long as possible.

Everyone loves flowers and if we can keep them alive for longer once they have been cut then it is good news to us.
