Potted plants suited for different rooms

Are you looking for the right plant for a specific area in your home? It’s so important to make sure that you understand the needs of the plant, how large it will grow, and whether or not you can tend to these needs. Different rooms benefit from different types of plants and here are some great ideas.

Living room

Your living room is one of the busiest in your home. It will receive the most traffic and this is why so many people choose potted plants that are larger and placed on the floor rather than take up table space. Some good examples include the Philodendron which requires partial to full sun and well-drained soil. The Majesty palm can also be displayed on the floor and loves full sun. If you want to decorate a shelf, you might prefer English Ivy. It looks amazing as it trails down.

Bedroom

Your bedroom is your sanctuary. The place you go to escape and rest. Remember that some plants can improve the air in your bedroom while others can have the opposite effect! Three great options to improve your sleeping environment include Aloe Vera, Peace Lilies, and Ruffle Ferns. Aloe can be displayed on a table whereas your fern and lily plants can be placed in stands on the floor.

Dining room

Again, another busy room where you can display plants on the floor or on the table. In fact, some kind of table décor is to b expected. For floor displays, consider Philodendron, just like your living room. For your table, you could enjoy a Golden Pothos plant which enjoys full to partial sun.

Bathroom

Your bathroom is often one of the smaller rooms in your home and you might not have too much space for decorative displays. Spruce up a table or countertop with a Snake Plant. This plant requires indirect sun which makes it perfect for bathrooms. A Parlor Palm enjoys full to partial shade and, if you have the space, they are great for setting on the floor.

Kitchen

Potted plants don’t only need to offer décor. In your kitchen, you can display plants like Basil, Rosemary, Parsley, and various herbs! Not only do they look lovely, but they are also handy when cooking. Fresh herbs on hand are great for adding nutrients and flavour to your favourite dishes.

Remember, if you are not confident in your plant care skills, a succulent or cactus is the best way to get started! They require very little care, minimal water, and they grow slowly so you don’t need to worry about replanting too soon.
